There is often social stigma around issues of mental health. To this day, many still view mental health issues as something to just “get over.” At work, unlike the flu or cold, issues such as stress or depression may not be considered as a valid reason for leave. But if left unchecked, bottled up stress and depression may lead to far more severe consequences in daily life, in the worst case even leading to self harm, and suicide. May this ring remind us all that the mind is just as important as the body, and a little more sympathy and understanding is much needed for sufferers of mental health conditions.
